Increasing BC Lowest Personal Tax Rate and Basic Personal Tax Credits Starting in 2026

Effective January 1, 2026, lowest BC income tax rate is increasing to 5.60% (from 5.06%). Applicable percentage for the BC basic personal income tax credits is also increasing by the same percentage at the same time.

Increasing BC Tax Reduction Credit Amount Starting in 2026

Effective for the 2026 tax year, maximum BC tax reduction credit is increasing to $690 (from $575), for low income individuals making up to $25,570 in 2026. Taxpayers making more than $25,570 but less than $44,950 will receive a partial credit.

No Increase on Personal Tax Brackets and Non-refundable Tax Credits through 2030

BC tax brackets and non-refundable tax credits will stay at the 2026 income levels through 2030. Indexation will return starting in 2031.
